Young Vision: Connecticut’s New Rising Hip Hop Voice
Every generation of hip hop brings forward new voices determined to shift the conversation. For Connecticut’s own Young Vision, real name Kelvin Haynes Jr., that moment is arriving now. With years of writing, performing, and perfecting his craft behind him, he is preparing to step into the spotlight with his upcoming debut album, CONTRAVERSY.
Music has been a lifelong pursuit for Young Vision. He started writing and recording in the eighth grade, eventually building a catalog of more than 1,000 songs. Before branching out as a solo artist, he was part of the group Tru Allies, sharing stages with icons like Snoop Dogg, Remy Ma, Keyshia Cole, Method Man, Fabolous, Dipset, and Ruff Ryders. That experience taught him discipline, stage presence, and the power of community within hip hop.
Yet, his solo path is defined by individuality. His songs always come with a message, whether they’re two minutes or five. That insistence on depth—combined with his athlete’s drive—has shaped his sound into something both versatile and intentional.
The upcoming album, CONTRAVERSY, promises to embody that ethos. The upcoming single, “Ask Around,” introduces listeners to the honesty and emotional storytelling at the core of his work. But for Young Vision, it’s only the beginning. He’s not just releasing songs—he’s carving out a lasting space in hip hop.
