Tina Knowles Shares Heartwarming Post Of Young Beyoncé

On Saturday (June 28), Tina Knowles strolled down memory lane, taking to Instagram, recalling Beyoncé’s first beauty pageant. In the photo, we spot a very young Beyoncé, sporting a beautiful pastel pink dress with a microphone in hand.

“I came across this post today and it reminded me of this day, which I speak about in my book, Matriarch,” she writes. “Johnny and I finished this dress the morning of the pageant. My sister Selena hemmed it in the car while I drove to the venue.”

Tina admitted that once they arrived at the pageant and saw the competition, she wasn’t sure that Beyoncé would make the cut. “When we got there, there were tons of beautiful formal gowns that these little girls had on who had been training all of their lives for this moment. Beyoncé had never competed before, so I was like, I just knew she didn’t have a chance for anything…”

However, the Cowboy Carter singer was able to wow the judges with her charismatic performance and ultimately took home the trophy. “Lo and behold, she won everything she won for this best dress, also, that I got the fabric for two days before this homemade dress. I crimped her hair, and she wowed the judges. The story in the book goes into detail of how funny that day was. You should read the book,” she added.

Earlier this year, Tina Knowles dropped off her memoir, Matriarch. Throughout the nearly 432-page book, Knowles recalls life lessons, the impact her mother had on her parenting style, history, and more. Despite her fierceness, Tina Knowles revealed to the former first lady she had second thoughts about the reception of her memoir. “It was scary,” she says. However, she feels it was important to learn about her family’s roots so she could pass their stories on to her children.
