Eight Found Guilty In Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery Case
Kim Kardashian has finally seen justice served in the armed robbery case that shook her life in 2016. According to TMZ, eight out of the ten suspects accused of robbing her in a Paris hotel were found guilty, while two were acquitted. Kardashian recently returned to Paris to testify against the group who allegedly tied her up and stole $10 million worth of jewelry during Paris Fashion Week nearly eight and a half years ago.
Aomar Ait Kedache, also known as “Old Omar,” was identified as the mastermind behind the heist. The 69-year-old received an eight-year prison sentence, with five years suspended. Three other men were sentenced to seven years each, also with five years suspended. Because of time already served in pretrial detention, none of the convicted men will go back to jail.
The trial brought nine men and one woman to court. Four of the men faced up to ten years behind bars, while others were charged as accessories and faced six to eight years. Authorities had arrested all suspects just a few months after the robbery took place.
During the trial, “Old Omar” apologized directly to Kim. He asked for her forgiveness, which she gave. However, she made it clear that the emotional scars remain. “But it doesn’t change the emotion and the feelings and the trauma, the way my life is forever changed,” Kardashian said on the stand.
Authorities have recovered only one piece of the stolen jewelry. Among the defendants was a former driver for the Kardashian family. Another suspect died shortly before the trial began, complicating the legal process.
Despite the ongoing challenges in her personal life, including continued co-parenting issues with Kanye West, Kim recently celebrated a major accomplishment. She completed her four-year Law Office Study Program and is preparing to take the bar exam.
