G Herbo is currently hospitalized after coming down with a serious case of the flu. The Chicago rapper took to Instagram Stories on April 7th to update fans with a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed. Alongside the image, he warned followers: “Y’all be safe out here bro this new flu strand ain’t no joke.”

While Herbo didn’t go into detail about the symptoms that led to his hospitalization, his post arrives during one of the deadliest flu seasons the U.S. has seen in over a decade. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 25,000 people have died from the flu this winter, including more than 100 children. Additionally, close to 600,000 Americans have been hospitalized due to the illness. Common flu symptoms include fever, chills, fatigue, body aches, and respiratory issues such as coughing or a sore throat. The severity can vary depending on a person’s age and health history.

This hospitalization adds to what has already been a difficult stretch for the 29-year-old. Herbo recently opened up about the loss of his father, who passed away in November 2024. He shared the emotional news during a livestream with Kai Cenat, appearing alongside his six-year-old son, Yosohn.

“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” Herbo said. “You know me, personally, I’ve been through a lot. I always overcome adversity. Trial, tribulations — there’s always triumph at the end. You gotta get up, work hard to be better than you were yesterday.”

He continued, “I just lost my pops two weeks ago, two-and-a-half weeks ago. I still find a reason to get up and smile, to get up and work, to provide for my family, to be there for my children.” Turning to his son, he gently asked, “You miss your pop-pop? It’s okay. He’s living through you, son.”
