Barack Obama Reveals He’s In A “Deep Deficit” With Michelle
While Barack Obama and Michelle Obama aren’t necessarily having trouble in paradise, the former president revealed he has some making up to do.
On Thursday (Apr.3), Barack Obama sat down with a group of students at Hamilton College in New York. During the chat, Obama admitted that while he did his best to handle the country’s fate with the utmost care as the nation’s leader, he fell short when it came to being a husband. “I was in a deep deficit with my wife,” Obama told the group of students.
On the other hand, Barack Obama noted he’s been doing his best to make up for the past with fun and engaging activities the couple can do together. “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.”
“Being married to the president of the United States is a thing that none of us kind of banked on,” Michelle Obama said on her IMO podcast
In March, Michelle opened up about the difficulties she and Barack’s marriage faced amid his presidency during an episode of her IMO podcast with her brother Craig Robinson. “Being married to the president of the United States is a thing that none of us kind of banked on,” she said.
The former first lady revealed that she knew her husband was “smart and ambitious,” but she wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of him running for president. However, her brother was able to convince her otherwise. “You talked me into supporting his run cause I was definitely like, nope, nope, this is crazy, we’ve done enough crazy stuff.”
Craig responded, saying, “I did. Barack came to me and he’s like, ‘I can’t convince your sister to go along with this,’ and I’m like, ‘woah, woah, go along with what?’ and he’s like, ‘I think I’m going to run for president.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ I wouldn’t go along with it.”
On the bright side, Michelle noted that Obama has been working since the end of his second term to correct the mistakes of the past. “He’s improved over 30 years of marriage, but that was a ‘you must adjust.’”
