Ja Morant has found himself in trouble with the NBA again.

Morant, who was suspended twice in 2023 for reportedly brandishing a weapon, was fined $75.00 for making an aiming-a-gun gesture to celebrate some of his biggest plays during games.

In a statement, the NBA confirmed the disciplinary action.

“Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been fined $75,000 for twice making an inappropriate gesture on the playing court, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations,” the statement read. “Morant was previously warned by the league office that this gesture could be interpreted in a negative light.”

“The gestures were made by Morant during the Grizzlies’110-108 victory over the Miami Heat on April 3 at Kaseya Center,’” the statement continued.

Morant was first warned when he and Golden State’s Buddy Hield made the gesture at one another during a Grizzlies-Warriors game on Tuesday. Apparently, the warning from the league office was ignored, since he made similar gestures in Thursday’s game.

The other gestures were directed at Morant’s teammates in both instances.

In 2023,  Morant was suspended for eight games after appearing on a livestream wielding a firearm at a nightclub in Denver.

He also received a 25-game ban after posing with a firearm in a car during another live-streamed video At the time, the league said that Morant “wielded the firearm while knowing that he was being recorded and that the recording was being live streamed on Instagram Live, despite having made commitments to the NBA and public statements that he would not repeat the conduct for which he was previously disciplined.”
